Position Specification:

The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for developing, defining, planning, implementing, and evaluating the philosophy and objectives of Patient Care Services so as to ensure safe, efficient and therapeutically effective nursing care to all patients in an environment that promotes patient safety, professional development, and continues to assure financial viability. The CNO provides nursing consultative services as an integral member of the Hospital's Senior Leadership in formulating, implementing and evaluating patient care services in Hospital and community, with the goal to continually improve the services while ensuring their consistency in application across all areas. The Chief Nursing Officer positively supports the medical center’s core values, vision and mission to ensure that the organization’s goals and objectives are met. Director of Magnet Program



The Magnet Program Director provides leadership, planning and coordination of programs to drive business goals, cultivating a professional practice environment, and assumes a key role in the Magnet application process, preparation, designation, maintenance and related databases. Accountable for leading change efforts in collaboration with nurse leaders and staff utilizing the ANCC Magnet framework of excellence to create and implement innovative staff engagement, systems and processes. Identifies cutting edge nursing quality indicators, developmental needs, performance improvement and research initiatives and other activities that sustain and advance a culture of excellence and serves as an ambassador of the Magnet program employing a variety of communication strategies.


Job Essentials: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements and competencies.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ Nursing experience in leadership role.

  • Proficiency with extensive computer applications required.

  • Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrates innovation and creativity in approach

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Experience working in a Magnet organization.

  • Experience as a Magnet Program Director preferred.

  • Experience in professional practice structures and processes: care delivery systems, evidence-based practice, research, and quality monitoring and improvement.

  • High-level knowledge and experience with executing strategic programs to drive business success.


Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

  • Licensed as a RN nursing professional in the state of New Jersey.

  • MSN required, DNP or PhD in nursing preferred.

  • Current certification required. Certification must be maintained while employed in this position.
